A message circulating in the virtual world urges local residents, AAP supporters, to remember Amanatullah Khan in prayers.
Accompanied by a 14-second video featuring Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan’s photo, the message reads: “Hearing of Khan’s anticipatory bail will be held on February 20 in court. Remember him in your prayers.”
According to a PTI report, a local court on Monday issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate regarding an application by Amanatullah seeking anticipatory bail in a money-laundering case related to alleged irregularities by the Delhi Waqf Board during his chairmanship in hiring staff and leasing assets.
Khan anticipates arrest by the ED in the case.
He has been avoiding public appearances for several weeks, raising questions about his whereabouts from the Opposition in Okhla.
Khan was not named as an accused in the charge sheet recently filed by the ED. However, the ED named five entities in its prosecution complaint, including three suspected associates of Khan – Zeeshan Haider, Daud Nasir, and Jawed Imam Siddiqui, reported the news agency.
The ED alleged that Khan “acquired huge proceeds of crime out of the said criminal activities in cash and this cash amount was invested in the purchase of various immovable properties in Delhi in the name of his associates,” as reported by PTI.
Attempts to reach the MLA for comment were unsuccessful.
