Parent raises most burning issue of Okhla in open letter to MLA Amanatullah

Hours after a father and school-going son sustained injuries as the bike they were travelling on was hit by a speeding car which hit one stationary bus at thokar number 4 in Abul Fazal Enclave on Monday, residents have raised the issue of rash driving and unauthorized car parking in the locality.

Reacting to the OT report on its FB page, resident Salman Qadir urged Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan to get the issue resolved as soon as possible and end hardship being faced by parents in the morning when they go to drop their children to school. He said with parking on both sides, school buses get stuck and with great difficulties are able to move.

He wrote in Hindi: “Amanatullah Khan today (October 17) an accident took place at thokar number 4 in Abul Fazal Enclave and it was very sad that one father and son on their bike were hurt. The accident was not due to his fault as a speeding car from behind hit the bike which rammed into a stationary bus.

“The reason for this accident is parked vehicles on both sides of the road. People are using the road for permanent parking from thokar number 3 to 8. In the morning, parents face hardship in dropping their children to school. Due to narrow road, school buses are unable to ply. We have been facing hardship every day. You come to the spot between 6.30 am and 7.30 am and see yourself how difficult the situation is and how parents manage the show. It’s my humble request from you please find a solution to this most burning problem.

“Get the unauthorised parking removed ASAP. This is the request from all the parents. We all voted you to make you MLA and hence we will only share our problem with you. We hope that you will find a solution to this problem as parents have been facing it for years.”
