A person close to Khan team said the MLA was discharged and is fine.

Arrested for allegations of illegal appointments in the Delhi Waqf Board by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday, Khan is expected to be presented in court today where his lawyers will seek bail for him. Khan is currently under ACB custody.

Amanatullah Khan was discharged from the hospital late at night, official sources said Wednesday. Khan was on Tuesday admitted to AIIMS hospital in the national capital following chest pain, reported news agency IANS.

A report in India Today said: “The officials of the ACB initially took Amanatullah for an echo cardiogram to Delhi’s BH Rao hospital. However, as doctors pointed to some discrepancies in his report, they rushed the MLA to AIIMS for a checkup.”
Khan’s supporters in Okhla are hopeful that he might be out on bail soon.

After ACB raids on his house and other places in Okhla, the AAP has come out in support of its MLA. Kejriwal said the arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, which reports to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, was part of a series of attacks on party MLAs.

“They first arrested Satyendar Jain. They are not able to provide any proof despite the court asking repeatedly. Then they raided Manish’s (Deputy CM Manish Sisodia) house. They did not find anything. Now they have arrested Amanatullah. Many others will be arrested. It seems they are facing a lot of problems in Gujarat,” he tweeted.

National spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said the ACB searches at Khan’s houses in Joga Bai and Zakir Nagar had not yielded anything.

“They said that cash and arms were found during their searches. They did not find anything at his home. If it was, would there not be an FIR against him. The FIRs have been registered against some other people… The case under which Khan has been arrested was registered in January 2020. You called him for questioning and raided some locations in the meanwhile. They did not find anything… The ED and CBI have become desperate; they are raiding locations all over Delhi in the hope they will find something. They will then link that person to Manish Sisodia. They are scared of the AAP’s growing popularity in Gujarat,” he said.

According to NDTV, a press release from the anti-corruption office said: “Amanatullah Khan while working as Chairman of Delhi Waqf Board illegally recruited 32 persons violating all norms and Govt. guidelines and with allegations of corruption and favoritism. The then CEO of Delhi Waqf Board had clearly given statement and issued memorandum against such illegal recruitment.”

The anti-corruption unit has also claimed that its search team was “attacked by the relatives and other known persons of Amanatullah” outside his residence. The ACB further claims that the AAP leader “misappropriated the funds of Delhi Waqf Board comprising grants in aid from Delhi Government”.

The ACB seized ₹ 24 lakh as well as two illegal and unlicensed weapons.

Four people have been held for halting searches at Amanatullah’s house.
