UP Board 1988 10th 3rd topper dies at 48, laid to rest in Shaheen Bagh

Friends, relatives and Aligarh Muslim University alumni turned up at Shaheen Bagh graveyard on Sunday to pay last respect to Mohtashim Ali Siddiqui, who passed away a day ago in a flat in Shaheen Bagh.

He was laid to rest in Shaheen Bagh graveyard today after asar prayer today, according to residents who attend his last journey.

Mujtaba Rizvi told the OT that his friend Ali was 3rd topper of UP Board 10th Board in 1988 and he was 48 years old.

He later went to Aligarh Muslim University to study from where he completed his MBA after which he started working in private companies. Rizvi said Ali was working with some software company.

Before moving to Okhla a few years ago, Ali was residing in Dilshad Garden, said AMU alumnus Javed Iqbal Khan, who was present at the Shaheen Bagh graveyard.

MJ Khalid, another AMU alumnus, told the OT that the AMU fraternity was deeply shocked over the death of Ali. It was through the WhatsApp group that they came to know about his death and turned up at the graveyard, he said.

Another resident, who also came to know about his death from a WhatsApp group, said it was in the morning most probably that a day ago the maid found him dead in the house. The body was taken for post-mortem after which it was laid to rest in Shaheen Bagh graveyard today, said another AMU alumnus.

Residents in the graveyard said Ali was a bachelor and used to reside in the flat alone.

Ali’s father Kaif Sitapuri, was a well-known poet and a writer, who died years ago, said Rizvi. Ali has three sisters, all married.
