Delhi HC seeks AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan‘s response on ACB plea seeking cancellation of his bail, according to IE report.
Justice Yogesh Khanna directed Khan to file his reply by December 9, when the case will be heard next, barandbench.com reported.
After his arrest in a case related to Delhi Waqf Board irregularities case on September 16, a Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court had on September 28 granted bail to the Okhla MLA.
The ACB is investigating the alleged irregularities in the recruitment to the Delhi Waqf Board headed by Khan.
As part of its probe, the ACB had carried out searches at the MLA’s house and other premises and reportedly seized ₹24 lakh besides two unlicensed weapons, reported barandbench.com.
Top AAP leaders then backed Khan and said nothing was found from his house. “The MLA has been arrested in a baseless and totally fake case. This is a new conspiracy to implicate him in a false case and defame our party,” the AAP said, according to ANI.
Also, Khan wife posted “After Amanat left for ACB office, police officials arrived at and searched our place. In this video, you can clearly hear police officials saying they found nothing. However, media, which is called the fourth pillar of a democracy, is misleading people with false information,” the tweet, attributed to Khan’s wife Safia Khan had surfaced on Twitter.
It has been alleged that 22 members of the Board were appointed from Khan’s constituency, reported barandbench.com.
While granting bail to Khan, the trial court had said that there was no material on record to show that any of the recruited employees had paid him any bribe in securing the jobs, reported livelaw.in.
The portal further reported: “Therefore, prima facie, there is no material on record to show that as to what extent loss was caused to the exchequer by grant of tenancy by Waqf Board during the tenure of present accused,” the judge had said.
