    MCD organises awareness campaign against vector-borne diseases in Jamia

    The Municipal corporation of Delhi organised an awareness programme as anti-dengue month on vector borne diseases in Jamia Millia Islamia.

    On Monday, a civic report said over 140 dengue cases have been reported in Delhi so far this year, including 32 in June. Till June 27, the city had logged 134 cases of dengue. No death due to the disease has been reported so far, as per the report by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

    Delhi recorded 23 dengue cases in January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May and 32 in June, it said, adding zero cases were reported this month till July 2.

    Main focus of the event was to create awareness about prevention and control of vector borne diseases. Officials of public health department of MCD gave presentation on preventive measures to control dengue, malaria & chikungunya mainly focusing on source reduction.
    They emphasized on common breeding sites and measures to be taken to combat it.

    Officials of Public Health department of MCD emphasised on the need of “working together” to combat the menace of vector borne diseases and asked university officials to remain focused on how different departments can coordinate with each other and everyone has certain responsibility towards curbing diseases like dengue and malaria.

    It emphasised on the need for cooperation from the community and institutions for fighting the dengue menace. Officials urged the members to ensure a mosquito free premise by destroying breeding sources, it said.
