Watch: Okhla’s health infrastructure gets boost, much-talked about Govt hospital near completion

The much-talked about the Delhi government hospital is near completion, according to reliable sources and chances are that it will get operational in four months time.

It was in September 2021 when the OT had reported about the Delhi government’s decision to build seven new hospitals, including one in Sarita Vihar for the Okhla residents. And know it has been learnt that the work is in full swing. On Friday, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan visited the hospital spot with his team and in a video he said: “The hospital is near completion and in four months time residents will benefit from it as it will be thrown open to Okhlaiites.”

In September, PWD Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday convened a meeting with the Public Works Department (PWD) & senior officials of concerned departments to take some key decisions on 7 new hospitals that the Kejriwal Government is constructing.

Then it was announced that these hospitals will be constructed at Sarita Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Sultanpuri, Kirari, Raghubir Nagar, GTB Hospital Campus and Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya.

Then Jain had standardised the procedure for the construction of the new hospitals, which will follow the precast building material technique along with an energy-efficient and environment-friendly approach.

He said all 7 hospitals will be built with precast building materials and will be completely modular.

Jain said all steel & concrete material structures will be manufactured in factories and will only have to assemble them on the construction site, which will boost the construction speed.

Jain added that in-house Green Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) will be made in the hospitals with Zero Liquid Discharge.

Then the PWD Minister directed the officials to pace up the work so that the target of constructing these 7 hospitals in 6 months could be achieved.

He also had directed the officials to adopt the modern methods of construction so that quality work can be completed in time.

Then Jain had taken to Twitter and wrote: “Convened a meeting with PWD officials & took stock of the advancement of the work of 7 hospitals being constructed by the Kejriwal Govt in the Capital. Directed the officials to use modern methods of construction so that the quality work can be completed in record time.”

Jain said: “The officials should work at a rapid pace to complete the work on time. To deliver the best quality work, the officials should use modern technologies. All the 7 new hospitals will be built with precast building materials. Such precast building materials are strong and save a lot of time.”

The precast materials are ready-made blocks of concrete that are made in the factories and then brought to the construction site where they are assembled to give a final shape.

Apart from this, he also said: “All steel structures will be manufactured in the factories and will be brought to the construction site for assembling, just like precast concrete material, and will be completely modular. This will increase the pace of construction. Thereby, finishing the work on time.”

Jain also directed the officials to make Green Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the hospitals.

To this, he added: “These STPs will be devoid of any foul odour and will consume with very little power to function. All 7 new hospitals will have in-house STPs with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD). All the hospitals will use 5-star electric appliances that will be energy efficient.” These hospitals will also have a provision of the camera connected with individual beds of patients.
