No respite from heatwave, maximum temperature at 40.9 degrees Celsius
There is no respite from heatwave for Delhi residents, Okhlaiites as resident woke up to a hot day. In Okhla, when people got up for sehri the minimum temperature at 4.32 am was 28 degrees Celsius. And by 2.30 pm the temperature touched 40 degrees Celsius with residents preferring to stay indoors due to Ramzan and fasting.
“Heatwave conditions in isolated pockets very likely to prevail over Delhi and adjacent states on 18th and 19th. It is likely to abate thereafter due to approaching Western Disturbance, wind conditions and cloudiness over some parts of these areas,” the India Meteorological Department said in a bulletin.
But there could be some relief from residents between April 19 and April 22 as the IMD has predicted light isolated rainfall in the national Capital during this period. Also, the IMD said the city is very likely to see strong dust/raising winds (speed reaching between 25-35 kmph) on April 19 and April 20.
“Heatwave may make a comeback over Delhi-NCR for next two days. Chances of mild dust storm and thunder storm on April 20 and 21st,” Mahesh Palawat, Vice president, meteorology, SkymetWeather said. The relative humidity in the city at 5.30 pm was 18 per cent with minimum temperature settling at 22.5 degrees Celsius.
