Samsung witty jibe at Apple after iPhone 17 launch sparks online buzz

Samsung made a sharp taunt at Apple following the launch of the iPhone 17 series on Tuesday. Samsung Mobile US shared a 2022 post on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “#iCant believe this is still relevant”, referring to Apple not introducing a foldable phone. In 2022 Samsung had tweeted, “Let us know when it folds.” The company also used the hashtag #iCant in other posts, including one stating, “Actual innovation > hype #iCant”, highlighting what it claims is the difference between real innovation and media hype.

The reaction between Apple and Samsung quickly became a hot topic on social media. Some users criticised Samsung, saying its foldable phones may not always remain relevant, while others supported Apple, claiming Apple will always be ahead.

The company also targeted Apple’s camera system, writing: “48MP x 3 still doesn’t equal 200MP.” Another post suggested Apple had been slow to roll out features, stating: “#iCant believe some people had to wait 5 years for Sleep Score.” A further jibe read: “[Apple emoji] just announced live translation at Zzz-note. All we can say is, welcome to the party #iCant.”

Apple unveiled the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone Air at its Awe Dropping event. It also launched Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 11 and AirPods Pro 3. As of now, the iPhone Air is thinnest smartphone of Apple and it is only 5.6 millimetres.

Kaiann Drance, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, said: “iPhone 17 is a big upgrade with powerful features that make iPhone even more useful in your day-to-day life, from the bigger and brighter ProMotion display with 3x better scratch resistance, to all-day battery life with faster charging, the A19 chip for powerful performance, a fantastic 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, and the innovative Center Stage front camera — our best front camera yet.”

The price of iPhone Air with 256GB variant is RS 1 lakh19,900. RS 1 39,900 for the 512GB, and RS 1 59,900 for the 1TB model. Price of  iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max is higher.

In the iPhone 17 series, Apple has worked on its design, camera, user experience, enhancements and performance. But due to post by Samsung, it has become hot topic on social media and everywhere. Everyone knows that there is a big rivalry between both companies.

The iPhone 17 and Air variants are important for market because it has prominent features like A19 chip, ProMotion display, Centre Stage front camera, 48MP dual camera and very thin frame.
