Mohd Sahddil Nawaz, a resident of Okhla with roots in Odhisa, has made his parents proud by cracking the NEET exam in his first attempt with a score of 547. The feat by Sahddil Nawaz in NEET has left his parents ecstatic. His mother told the OT that Sahddil has worked hard coming out with flying colours in the exam leading to the way to become a doctor a dream of his family.

“When he told me his score, tears came to my eyes. My son did it! It was tough managing school, coaching, and studying at home but he worked really hard,” said his mother.

His father said: “There is no greater happiness for a father than seeing his son succeed. We always kept him motivated and focused. His mother especially played a huge role, waking up for his needs, helping him at all hours.”

He also credited Sahddil’s younger sister Sharifa Nawaz for his NEET success: “His sister constantly pushed him. She deserves 99 per cent credit as she used to keep him away from mobile distractions and encourage him to study.”

Sadil’s sister, though young, was proud. “I did motivate him. He didn’t use to study much, but when I told him to, he started. Everyone was nervous in the family before the result, but when it came out, the whole family was happy. We had biryani, cut cake, distributed sweets, and informed friends and relatives not only in Delhi but back in Odhisa also!”

“Yes, she was happy. Although she’s still young to fully understand all this, she was still quite happy,” said Sahddil Nawaz. Speaking about his journey and career choice, Sahddil Nawaz said: “I chose medicine as a career because I feel good when I can help someone. If I can help my patients and cure them, I feel better.”

He described the NEET preparation phase as a time of “many ups and downs,” with time management and self-confidence being the biggest challenges. “The biggest challenge is demotivation, which hits very hard. But if you keep confidence in yourself… you’ll overcome it.   I saw many ups and downs, and how your mind can totally deviate from the path. But if you keep control, stay focused on your target and self-improvement, then everything is possible,” he said.

Chemistry is his favourite subject, while his love for nature drew him towards studying biology. “I’ve always had an interest in nature, in humans, animals, and plants,” he said.

When asked about his NEET score, Sahddil Nawaz said: “This year, I scored 547 in NEET. I’m satisfied. It could’ve been better, but I’m satisfied.”

Looking ahead, Sadil aspires to go into biochemistry or vaccine research and hopes to bring change by encouraging people to seek medical help when needed. “Even today, people hesitate to go to the doctor. I want to change that,” he said.
