Watch: Okhla Vihar residents mourn on Jan 1, know reason
New Year eve is the day for celebrations. But today some residents of Okhla Vihar were mourned at the garbage site to express their displeasure over poor roads for years and other burning issues. A day earlier, Okhla Vihar resident Javed, who backed Congress Councillor Ariba Khan during election time, told the OT that this is the first day of mourning and they will continue this daily until the roads are not fixed.
It was hard for Javed to gather people as initially at 1.30 pm when the session was to start only three residents had turned up but later on a few more residents joined in and complained about poor road, overflowing sewer and garbage dumped in the open.
When asked by the OT that is it a politically motivated protest, Javed said he will speak against the Congress Councillors as well if things are not fixed soon.
“See this is against the delay in getting the road fixed, removing garbage and water supply. We are not supporting any political party or opposing anybody. Our main concern is that the infrastructure of the locality should improve, particularly of Noor Nagar and Okhla Vihar which are in very bad shape,” he said.
Other residents who gathered there also complained about the daily hardship that residents face while commuting on this road.
