Watch: Good news! Asif promises something new on this Shaheen Bagh garbage spot
After winning the MCD election 2022 from Abul Fazal Enclave ward, Ariba Khan’s father Asif Md Khan has promised to fulfill promises made during the election campaign. Congress candidate Ariba defeated AAP’s sitting Councillor Wajid Khan with more than 100 votes.
During the campaign, roadside garbage dump at Shaheen Bagh in front of a mosque and one nearby by a local hospital were talk of the campaign with all contestants promising to end it following long demand of the residents.
Asif told the OT that he has planned something new for this Shaheen Bagh garbage spot. “See this is something that we had not promised during the campaign. But dumping garbage in front of a beautiful mosque is not right and it has to end. I will beautify the whole spot in front of the mosque and put benches. There will plants at the spot where garbage is being dumped here so that morning walkers can come here and get fresh air,” he said. On being asked the deadline for the project to get starting, he said it will be done soon.
The oath-taking ceremony for the newly constituted MCD is yet to be taken.
Asif said the garbage dump at Hari Kothi road will be sorted out.
Many residents, who voted Wajid out from power, said they punished him for not fulfilling poll promise to end open garbage dump. Residents said if Asif and Ariba fail to fulfill their promise then they too will be replaced in next election.
