Mayor, in her letter, has written that there were 52 vaccination centres in SDMC for 45 years and above age which were approved by the Delhi Government where Covid vaccination was given.

“Now, with the decision of Government of India to cover all the population who are 18 years and above of age under vaccination drive, the need of the hour was to start vaccination drive at maximum places. However, surprisingly the Delhi Government has reduced the number of vaccination centres in SDMC from 52 to 47 and vaccination at these centres has been restricted for the population whose age is 45 years and above,” it said.

“For the population between 18 to 44 years of age, Delhi Government has opened vaccination centres in Delhi Government schools where long queues can be seen which are breeding grounds of corona. The centres of SDMC and other Municipal Corporations have been excluded from the new list of new Centres covering 18-44 age group,” it said.

The Mayor has written that the SDMC has 101 Health Units, 450 Schools and 100 Community Centres where vaccination drive can be undertaken.

“These units are spread evenly in 104 wards of SDMC and can cater to the total population of South Delhi. It is, therefore, requested that necessary instructions may be provided to Delhi Government to start vaccination drive at all centres of SDMC so that the total population of South Delhi can be covered under vaccination drive at the earliest.”
