Shani, Manas win Women’s Manifesto Award 2021
Women’s Manifesto Award 2021 was given to Shani S Hameed (social entrepreneur) and Manas Yedluri (writer). Shani S Hameed is Physiotherapist and Early Childhood Rehabilitation Specialist.
“The candidate will be awarded with memento; certificate and cash prize of rupees ten thousand,” said Dr Sharnas Muthu general secretary Okhla-headquartered Women’s Manifesto.
Shani is the founder, Director and Rehabilitation Child Specialist of Alfa Paediatric Rehabilitation Centre. ALFA is one of the leading Paediatric Rehabilitation centre and child development in Kerala established in 2012 to address the developmental and clinical needs of children with special needs.
The special children include children stricken with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Mental retardation, Down syndrome and multiple disabilities like Muscular Dystrophy, Spina-Bifida or other physical and other orthopaedic problems. Now Shani is serving around 200+ children who are coming from different parts of Kerala.
Among them around 100+ kids are from very poor financial background. Qualification: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) form AWH Special College, Calicut University in 2002.
Masters in MHSC Clinical Child Development from CDC, Medical College Thiruvananthapuram -Kerala University 2015 MA Clinical Psychology-IGNOU, 2021 Awards: She got many awards and recognition.
Some of them are Kerala Urban development Society’s Samoohya Sevana Deepthi award Best Social Contributor award by Kerala Physiotherapy Association by District Collector.
Best Social Entrepreneurship award by Kochouseph Chittilappilly RED FM Shakthi Social Entrepreneurship award Manas Yedluri is Telugu Dalit feminist short story writer has won Kendra Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for 2020 for her collection of short stories Milinda.
It has been translated into Hindi. Most of her short stories talk about women from different backgrounds. She focuses more on the plight of educated Dalit Chrisitan women in the urban set up. She also has written LGBTQ stories in support of the queer communities. Bold and honest her stories talk of being a minority in India, whether by virtue of gender, sexuality or religion. Her works has been translated into English and been receiving appreciation across the nation. She also translated famous Marathi writer Sharan Kumar Limbale novel into Telugu.
She received many awards for her stories from prolific Telugu writers. Her father Prof. Sudhakar and mother late Dr. Putla Hemalatha are also eminent writers in Telugu. She lives in Hyderabad. Qualification She did her graduation in Psychology and English literature and did her masters in linguistics from University of Hyderabad.

“In order to recognise efforts made by individual or organisation for rendering distinguished services for the cause of women and development of nation, Women’s Manifesto confers Women’s Manifesto Award. It is given considering their excellence in the areas of entrepreneurship/ journalism/ art & culture/ academics/ sports/ literature/ social service. Awardees are selected from the nomination received and shortlisted after verification of information provided. Then it is finalised and selected by a team of three jury members,” said Sharnas.
