Watch: Waterlogging due to choked drains throw businesses in Shaheen Bagh into deep water, causes hardship for namazis

Waterlogging due to choked drains has thrown businesses in Shaheen Bagh into deep water and caused hardship for namazis, according to residents of lane number 8 nearby Firdous Masjid.

They said despite complaining several times nobody has turned up to resolve the issue. A youth said the situation has been like this for the last two months with potholes also surfacing on the road and commuters facing hardship while driving on this road.

Several mishaps have taken place as water is so much that it is difficult to see the road, he said.

Another resident standing at a nearby shop said businesses have been hit hard.

Very close by the stinking overflowing sewer water, a rotiwalla was seen busy attending customers. Due to waterlogging many people are avoiding shops on this road causing business loss to the shopkeepers. A shop owner said we are pooling in money to get it cleaned from time to time but the situation has not improved and we want the authorities and the representatives to get the issue sorted out so that life returns to normal.

Many residents were seen wading through the dirty sewer water. The water is dirty and it stinks, said another resident.

A resident said she cannot go to Firdous Masjid side as the condition is very pathetic.
