    All unauthorised colonies to get water, drainage systems, roads by March 2023: Kejriwal

    The Delhi Government has taken the resolve of providing all basic facilities to unauthorised colonies of Delhi, it said in a statement.

    In this vein, the government will provide water & sewer pipelines along with proper road & drainage connectivity in all unauthorised colonies by March 2023, said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

    He reviewed the progress of roadworks, sewer, water pipeline and drainage projects of unauthorised colonies today, said the statement.

    The CM directed officers to ensure highest quality standards in their projects going on in unauthorised colonies.

    Kejriwal chaired a review meeting on the ongoing development works in unauthorised colonies at the Delhi Secretariat today. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Water Minister Satyendar Jain and senior officers of the concerned departments were also present in this meeting. The Chief Minister took information from the officers about the present status of all the development works going on in unauthorised colonies.

    The CM personally examined the progress report of projects going on in unauthorised colonies in particular those of roadworks, sewer, water pipeline laying and drainage, it said, adding that he directed the officials to complete all the work on time and ensure best quality at all costs.

    In the meeting, the concerned officials apprised Kejriwal that the work of developing sewers, roads, water pipelines and drains in all unauthorised colonies would be completed by March 2023.

    Officials said work on all the projects is going on in full swing and its monitoring is being done continuously.

    “The progress of roads and drains being handled by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department was also delved into by the officers; they have completed 459 projects whereas 278 are under-construction. 18,340 roads are being built totalling a length of 1,845.73 kilometres by the department, 15,638 roads out of these totalling 1,542.43 kilometres have been constructed.

    “2,702 roads totalling 303.19 kilometres are under-construction. Works of 30,606 drains were taken up by the department totalling 3,052.41 kilometres, 27,576 drains of these of 2,661.23 kilometres length have been completed and 3,030 drains are under-construction for a total of 391.18 kilometre length,” it said.

    According to officials, work is proceeding at a rapid pace in unauthorised colonies.

    “In Narela Vidhan Sabha, 30 projects in 23 colonies are to be completed, with 22 already completed. Similarly, in Burari, 38 out of 64 projects in 20 colonies were completed, 3 out of 10 projects in 5 colonies were finished, 24 out of 35 projects in 11 colonies were wrapped up, 16 out of 20 projects in 15 colonies; 29 out of 87 projects in 41 colonies; 20 out of 39 projects in 35 colonies; 3 out of 4 projects in 4 colonies; and 45 out of 48 projects in 23 colonies were completed. Shalimar Bagh had three projects that were completed in three colonies. Apart from that, 4 out of 5 projects in 5 colonies are located in Patel Nagar, 19 out of 44 projects in 40 colonies are located in Vikaspuri, 11 out of 41 projects in 41 colonies are located in Uttam Nagar, and 49 projects in 29 colonies are located in Matiala. 21 projects out of 110 under Najafgarh, 93 projects out of 110, 2 projects out of 2 colonies under Malviya Nagar, and 2 projects out of 10 under Sangam Vihar. Badarpur has 42 projects out of 38 colonies.

    “40 projects out of 14 in 8 colonies come under Okhla, 10 projects out of 4 in 4 colonies under Kondli, 3 out of 3 projects in 3 colonies under Laxmi Nagar, and 1 out of 2 projects in 2 colonies under Vishwas Nagar. Work has been completed on 1 out of 4 projects in 3 colonies under Gandhi Nagar, 15 out of 25 projects in 25 colonies under Gokulpur, 16 out of 20 projects in 20 colonies under Mustafabad. At the same time, all development work in Model Town, Chandni Chowk, Moti Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Mehrauli, Seemapuri, Rohtash Nagar, and Ghonda colonies has been completed,” it said.

    The officials informed that the work of laying pipelines in unauthorised colonies is also in progress.

    “Work is underway on 6 pipeline projects in 5 colonies of Narela. Similarly, 12 pipeline projects are in progress in 7 colonies of Burari, 31 in 29 colonies of Rithala, 2 in 2 colonies of Bawana, 29 in 7 colonies of Mundka, 1 in Sultanpur Majra, 1 in 3 colonies of Rajouri Garden, 3 in Vikaspuri 55 out of 41 colonies of Uttam Nagar, 4 out of 4 colonies of Matiala, 25 out of 25 colonies of Najafgarh, 39 in 38 colonies of Najafgarh, 1 in Malviya Nagar, 4 in 4 colonies of Mehrauli, 12 in 10 colonies of Ambedkar Nagar, 9 in 7 colonies of Sangam Vihar, 3 in 3 colonies of Greater Kailash, 14 in 13 colonies of Tughlakabad, 31 in 24 colonies of Badarpur, 18 in 15 colonies of Okhla, 3 in 3 colonies of Gokalpur, 5 in Mustafabad. Work is in progress on 5 laying projects. In this way, work is going on 306 pipeline projects in 249 colonies,” it said.

    The statement said: “DSIIDC is currently working on development projects in 11 Assembly constituencies. Assembly constituencies include Chhatarpur, Deoli, Bijwasan, Karawal Nagar, Dwarka, Palam, Janakpuri, Patparganj, Krishna Nagar, Rohini, and Delhi Cantt. Aside from that, the responsibility for carrying out development work has been delegated to some colonies in the assembly constituencies of Kirari, Vikaspuri, Gokulpur, and Bawana. As a result, the DSIIDC has been charged with carrying out development work in 352 unauthorised colonies. Out of which, road and rain water drainage construction work has been completed in 172 colonies, work is in progress in 69 colonies, and funds have been released for proposed work in 111 colonies, which is moving at a fast pace.”
