Watch: Thousands turn up to bid adieu to Zakir Nagar stabbing victim

A large number of residents have turned up at the house of Zakir Nagar stabbing victim on Saturday to bid him adieu. According to reliable source, tadfeen is to take place after Maghrib prayer in Batla House graveyard as the body has arrived from the hospital.

Son of a well-known Zakir Nagar resident, Shayan Ahmad Arif, (cement wale) had died in the stabbing incident on Friday, said Waseem.

He said the 19-year-old Shayan was attacked by knife wielding youths in Zakir Nagar gali number 6. Three of his cousins and Shayan sustained life-threatening injuries and all of them were rushed to Holy Family Hospital, he said.

Former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan told one YouTuber that the youth was declared brought dead by hospital staff.

Waseem said Shayan was hard-working and had got admission in Jamia Millia Islamia this year, a claim which the OT was unable to verify from the university authority as it was holiday.

The hunt is on to arrest the accused so that the motives behind the attack could be known.

Till now only local leaders and some residents have spoken with the media telling the story. Details are yet sketchy as what led to the fight and who all were involved.

On Friday night a large number of residents had turned up at the Holy Family Hospital. And leaders said three cousins who had sustained stabbing injuries have been shifted to another hospital.

Residents said Okhla MLA Amnatullah Khan had also turned up at the hospital.

AAP leader Mahmood Ahmed, who turned up at the hospital, said one youth succumbed to his injuries from stabbing. “This is very shocking incident. Why this happened,” asked Mahmood.

Former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan said all the youths are from one family and all teenagers. “The youths were attacked and one died on site and declared brought dead,” said Khan.

Councillor Danish said he too has been told that one has died in the incident.
Official version on the whole issue is yet awaited.
