Shruti prepared for the exam from the Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) of the university. This year 23 candidates, including Shruti, cleared UPSC Civil Services Examinations from RCA, Jamia. Since 2011, Jamia’s RCA has become premier nursery for civil servants in the country.
JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar, Registrar Prof. Nazim Husain Jafri, JTA President Prof. Majid Jameel, JTA General Secretary Dr Mohd Irfan Qureshi, Vice President Prof. Nafis Ahmad and other office bearers of the association jointly felicitated Shruti on the dais. The auditorium was jam-packed by staff and students of the university during the function.
Also, Shruti presented cheques to a few Jamia students out of the total 308 selected for JTA merit cum means scholarship. During her address, she talked about her mesmirising UPSC journey.
Akhtar in her address said: “On behalf of entire Jamia fraternity, I would like to offer my heartiest congratulations to every RCA achiever, especially to Shruti, on her spectacular and outstanding success who made us proud beyond measure. She has also emerged as a symbol of women empowerment.”
Shruti said: “I thank everyone for the success but the RCA has been a very important part of my entire UPSC journey and teachers here supported me at every stage. The facilities I got here helped me focus on my studies and not to bother about other tiny little things. The peer group at the academy also helped me a lot as I think our peers can be our teachers also. RCA helped us in forming tiny groups to study together, learn from each other, have discussions together and many others from my peer group also succeeded in the exam.”
JTA president Prof. Majid Jameel wholeheartedly congratulated Shruti and underlined the major role of RCA in her securing 1st rank in IAS exam.
JTA General Secretary Dr Irfan Qureshi compared the function with motivational quotes and cited the success story of the RCA so far.
JTA Vice President Prpf Nafis Ahmad said students should get inspired by Shruti’s success and feel confident that getting top rank is always achievable. The function ended with a vote of thanks by JTA Executive Committee member Dr Mohsin Ali and short event was held where students got an opportunity take selfies with Shruti, their role model.
