According to Prof. Shikha Kapur, HoD, DACEE, for mass literacy, continuous efforts have to be carried out at the ground level by actually roping in the illiterate population living in subhuman conditions like the slums in the cities across India.
The enthusiastic group of students of M.A. Development Extension Semester I and III, along with their Professors from the Department took out a 2 hour long rally throughout the entire length and breadth of the Cluster. In harmoniously synchronised voices, with self- created, colourful placards in their hands, the group from Jamia raised beautiful slogans on literacy for masses and importance of literacy in life.
Soon the residents of Shram Vihar both young and old joined the rally rendering slogans alongside the Jamia group with fervour and the cluster was abuzz with साक्षरता. The second round of Saksharta Rally was led by the enthusiastic group of children from Shram Vihar who also pledged to make their parents and elders literate.
