Watch: Shoaib’s gesture towards Talib family wins hearts on internet, residents ask more local leaders to help family

Since Talib, 25, death in fight over gulli danda in Batla House, the incident has been at the centre of attraction in Jamia Nagar with some opposition leaders raising it and taking it as an opportunity to corner the ruling party leaders.

Injured Talib was rushed to a hospital on Friday night and on Saturday morning he succumbed to his injuries.

Many leaders have given statements on the issue but till now nobody came forward to provide financial help to the poor family until Zakir Nagar Councillor Shoaib Danish arrived at the family’s house in Bata House on Tuesday at 3 pm to offer some amount as a gesture to help the family.

He said as Talib was the only son of the family and was taking care of his sister and father, it is important to help him. After his video was posted it got mixed reactions with majority of netizens appreciating his kind gesture towards the family.

Besides many residents said it would be better for the family, which lost young son to violence, that more leaders come forward and financially help the family so that they can overcome financial hardship.

Before Danish reached the house of Talib, Delhi AIMIM president Kaleem Ul Hafeez and its State joint secretary Afzal Khan Afridi also visited the house, condemning the incident.

Police said on Monday that three people, including a juvenile, were arrested for allegedly killing Talib.

Police said they received PCR calls about a fight between two groups and rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital by them, it said.

The victim’s father alleged the involvement of a man named Irfan and his associates in the incident, the officer said. Irfan, one of his associates and a juvenile were apprehended, while efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Esha Pandey said.

Police have recovered an iron spade that was allegedly used in the offence, it said.
