Jamia Professor Shafeeque dies
Jamia Millia Islamia Professor Shafeeque Ahmed Ansari passed away today at 1:30 pm, according to university top official.
He said the body has been taken to his hometown in Malegaon (Nasik) Maharashtra. After complaining of some complication, his family took him to a hospital in Faridabad where he got bed and he died.
He died before his Covid test result was out, said Naseeb Khan.
Born on June 1, 1966 in Maharashtra, Professor Shafeeque was Honorary Director – IQAC (since November 2015). He was director -CIRBSc (November 2016 – November 2019) at Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences, Jamia.
His wife Zubaida Ansari is also teaches at Jamia.
He did his PhD (Physics) from University of Pune in 1997 and MSc from Poona University 1991, BSc from the same university in 1989, HSC and SSC from Maharashtra Board in 1983.
The news of sudden demise of Professor Shafeeque has left the university faculty members devastated. They said it was only on Thursday when two of their colleagues, Jamia Professor Kadloor Savitri and Jamia School teacher Dr Amanullah Fahad died days after testing Covid positive.
It is understood that many Jamia faculty members are Covid positive with History Professor Rizwan Qaiser still in ICU for days after testing Covid positive.
