Shab-e-Barat 2021: A letter that goes viral on social media in Okhla
As devotees get ready for Shab-e-Barat 2021 following which after days Ramzan is to start, a letter has started doing the rounds on the social media a few days ago. The letter with the similar content has surfaced not only on Facebook but also on WhatsApp carrying the message of forgiveness, love and harmony.
“With the Month of Mercy in the horizon, I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely ask for forgiveness and pardon for any hurt or wrong I may have caused you, or any promise I may have broken. May Allah count us amongst those he forgives and those who earn His Mercy and acceptance in this blessed month Ameen. Pray we all have a fruitful and blessed Ramadan,” wrote a FB user.
Such letters also went viral on WhatsApp in which people were seen urging their friends for forgiveness. A resident said he has seen many residents even changing their WhtasApp status with forgiveness, which is all nothing but a showoff. As we all know that Shab-e-Barat is essentially the night of atonement, people should pray on this night and stop this drama, he said.
Though there is no religious sanction for circulating such letters in the beginning of Ramzan or during Shab-e-Barat, the letter is being sent and resent by many to friends and close associates.
Ramzan is a month when Muslims have been told not only to abstain from food, drink and sex during fasting but also to keep away from lies, gossiping and dishonesty. Moreover, the use of foul language while fasting is also prohibited.
