BBC series screening: Security stepped up at Jamia and other development
Though the university is closed for winter vacation, security has been stepped up at Jamia Millia Islamia after news surfaced of a students’ group screening the recently released BBC documentary on the campus at 6 pm.

The Centre had criticised the BBC, describing it as “a propaganda effort aimed to propagate a specific discredited narrative.” The Foreign Ministry has stated that “the bias, lack of objectivity, and frankly continuing colonial mindset are blatantly visible.”
Five students have been detained so far, according to news.abplive.com. However, some saying only two students have been arrested.
In a message to the media, SFI Delhi State Committee has given a call for a “protest against student crackdown by Jamia at 4 pm outside gate number 7”.
The SFI Jamia unit had decided to screen the BBC documentary today on the campus, it said, alleging that a few of its members have been arrested.
People came to know about the screening after a poster of the screening of the documentary was released by the youth wing of the Congress NSUI on the social media.
Following the centre’s crackdown on the documentary, more than 50 tweets were removed. The government even asked YouTube to remove videos of the documentary.
