Schools are closed during the ongoing Covid-19 period and the civic body is depositing amount of Mid Day meal directly in  bank accounts of children enrolled in schools but now it has been decided to provide them ration kits having 20 kg of ration ration in which rice, wheat, pulses and other necessary food items are included, it said in a statement issued to the media.

The corporation has aimed to provide 6 months’ ration in one kit. Standing Committee Chairman Rajdutt Gahlot, Chairperson Najafgarh Zone Suman Dagar, Education Committee Chairman Mukesh Suryan, local area councillor Pawan Sharma, Additional Commissioner Sh. AA Tajir, Deputy Commissioner of Najafgarh Zone  Radha Krishnan and other senior officials were also present at the occasion.

Adesh Gupta said the SDMC has taken the initiative to distribute ration kits and the all corporations should also implement it.

“In country, there are plenty of students who avail facility of Mid Day meal as financial condition of families of such these children is not good. In such circumstances, these needy students will get more nutritious food with the help of ration kits provided by the South Corporation,” he said.

Education Committee chairman Mukesh Suryan said the programme of ration kits distribution will be organised in all four zones of SDMC. He appealed parents of SDMC schools to avail the facility by collecting kits as per the programme schedule in schools in their area.

He said parents can also contact the Education Department at Zone level in this regards.
