SDMC schools resume classes, nursery to Class V students excited
South Delhi Municipal Corporation has opened its schools for Nursery to Class 5 students from February 14.
All SDMC Primary Schools were closed for two years due to Covid pandemic and children attending classes were excited as they had got the opportunity to come to school after a long period of time. School administrations, too, had made all arrangements to welcome students.
Classrooms were given a beautiful look with boards and other items, it said.
“Schools witnessed a good footfall on the first and second days of opening. Deputy Commissioners of all SDMC Zones inspected schools in their respective Zones and welcomed students by presenting flowers,” it said.
All Zonal DCs informed teachers and students about the ‘Reading Campaign’. They instructed Zonal Deputy Directors (Education) to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour including wearing of mask, use of hand sanitiser and maintaining social distance, it said.
“Arrangement of masks and sanitiser has been made at entry of schools. Principals and teachers will ensure the following of Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Teachers will be aware of students about wearing masks, washing of hands, using hand sanitizer and maintaining social distance. Parents have been requested to avoid sending their children to school if he/she is down with a fever or feeling unwell and to inform school administration,” it said.
Zonal DCs said online classes will also be continued so students unable to reach schools could continue their study.
