    SDMC continues anti-encroachments drive, know where bulldozers rolled today

    SDMC continues anti-encroachments drive, know where bulldozers rolled today

    The South Delhi Municipal Corporation, while continuing its drive to remove illegal encroachment, today carried out removal of illegal encroachments on a massive level on government land from roads, pavements and footpaths in all four zones.

    The civic agency said it undertook action in Madhuvihar, Chaukhandi, Janakpuri, Chhatarpur and Meherchand market in Lodi Road area where illegal encroachment on roads and footpaths was removed. The SDMC, during today’s action, demolished the structures built illegally on government land, especially outside shops and illegal hoardings were removed.

    In Najafgarh Zone’s Madhuvihar area, the SDMC squad carried out anti- anti-encroachment drive in presence of police force. Illegal encroachment was removed from Akash hospital to Madhuvihar bus terminal and adjoining areas. During the course of action, temporary structures were demolished while eight articles were also confiscated. About 1,200 meters area was made encroachment free, it said.

    A similar action was taken in the West Zone where illegal encroachments were removed from District Centre, Chhoti Sabzi Mandi, Janakpuri, Chaukhandi and adjoining areas. During the action, an area of about 1800 meters was made encroachment free. The SDMC team also seized a total of 71 items and impounded one vehicle lying unattended.

    Encroachment removal drive was also carried out in Meherchand Market in Lodi Road area of Central Zone. Here, illegally constructed temporary and permanent structures were dismantled from the government land. During the drive, the road measuring 1.2 kilometres in length was made encroachment free. Apart from this, two vehicles were impounded while as many as 25 items were confiscated.

    In the South Zone, encroachment was also removed from Chhatarpur and adjoining areas. During the SDMC action, about 6000 meters area was made encroachment free and illegal structures were also demolished. As many as 21 articles were also dismantled.

    The South DMC said it is committed to remove illegal encroachments/structures in its area. The civic agency will keep carrying this type of action against encroachment in future also, it said.
