Delhi govt shuts schools from Friday due to rising pollution
Following increase in the air pollution levels, schools in Delhi are to be closed from Friday. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday said physical classes will be suspended from Friday till further orders.
“We had reopened schools considering the forecast that air quality would improve. However, the air pollution levels have increased again and we have decided to shut schools from Friday till further orders,” Rai said.
Classes in schools, colleges and other educational institutions had resumed from Monday after they were closed since November 13.
Announcement was made by the Delhi government after the Supreme Court on Thursday snubbed it for opening schools amid a rise in the air pollution levels in Delhi.
