Started 3-day special sanitation, plastic removal drive: South Zone
In order to ensure sanitation during Covid-19 period, SDMC’S South Zone today started 3-day long Special Sanitation and Plastic Removal Drive which will end on April 30. During the drive, focus will be to improve sanitation condition of green belts, central verges of ker roads/stretches, road sides and vacany plots in all the wards coming under South Zone.

In this special sanitation drive, a total of 42 roads/stretches measuring a length of 60 kilometers were covered. In this special drive, all the plastic waste and other waste were cleaned and lifted from central verge and green belts, road sides of the said roads stretches. A total of 100 kilograms garbage were removed on first day of the drive, it said.

The drive was initiated at time when there is lesser footfall because of imposition of Curfew an traffic volume is very less on the roads. At this point of time, sanitation work can be done in every nook and corner efficiently, it said.
Additionally, South Corporation makes an appeal to the people of Delhi not to come out of their homes during the lockdown period. During the pandemic, Safai Sainiks have been working hard to maintain civic services, making extra efforts and even not caring for their lives. The SDMC is committed to serve people hence putting all effort to ensure sanitation during such a period, it said.
