Residents, Okhla’s top cops discuss burning issues
A meeting between top cops of Okhla and some residents was held a few days ago in Batla House where areas’ burning issues were discussed. “In the meeting with the top cops of Okhla, several burning issues of the locality were discussed,” said Mohd Hamza president RWA Sailing Club Society, Batla House.
He said since several cases of fire has been reported from the locality in the last few months due to short circuit, the residents raised the issue of illegal e-charging points on the Sailing Club Road in Batla House. “Besides, issues like, drug abuse among youths, women safety and identification process of tenants, were raised in the meeting with the police assuring all help to address them. ACP, SHO, Additional SHO and other cops were present at the meeting,” he said.
This summer several fire cases have been reported from the locality with the latest being fire in ETO parking lot at the Jamia Millia Islamia metro station. At least 10 cars and 80 e-rickshaws were charred in the fire at Parking lot next to Jamia Millia Islamia Metro Station, the Delhi Fire Service had said on June 8.
Nobody was hurt in the fire. With e-rickshaws being gutted many people who used to hire these rented e-rickshaws have lost their source of livelihood, said people aware of the development.
