Watch: I handed over my nephew to police in Batla House student murder case, says Sagheer Abbasi

As tongues started waging in Okhla after the arrest of Khalid in the Batla House student gunning down case on Friday, Sudhar Trust chairman Sagheer Abbasi cleared the air over the issue and said he handed his nephew to police immediately after coming to know about the development.

It was on Saturday when reports surfaced with police saying a 24-year-old cab driver was arrested for allegedly killing a Class 12 student for not returning his money in Batla House.

The accused, a resident of Batla House and identified as Khalid, had allegedly given Rs 72,000 to the student to buy an iPhone, police said.

On sustained interrogation, the arrested person revealed that he had given Rs 72,000 to deceased to purchase I-phone mobile but the deceased was not returning his money, said police.

On Friday at about 4 pm, he had gone to take back his money but the deceased neither gave I-Phone nor returned his cash and after heated argument and scuffle the man opened fire on deceased from his country made pistol and ran away, said police.

One country made pistol used in commission of offence has been recovered with used cartridge inside the barrel, said police, adding that the accused is class 10th fail and drives cab to earn his livelihood.

After the death of the student, he was laid to rest in Batla House graveyard with a large number of residents taking part in his last journey. The incident was talk of town with many concerned over the increase in firing incident in Okhla.
