Watch: Brave Zakir Nagar man foils robbery bid, thugs hit his head, face with screwdriver

A brave Okhla man was hurt when he tried to foil a robbery bid in his Zakir Nagar apartment on Wednesday. While trying to get hold of the robbers, he sustained injuries after being hit by the thugs with a screwdriver, according to people aware about the incident.

The incident took place in a Zakir Nagar apartment on Wednesday at 2.45 pm, said flat owner Saqib Khan, who is not in the town.

He said he was informed by his neighbour about the incident. Currently Khan is in his hometown in Jharkhand to celebrate Eid-al-Adha 2023 and he said police have been informed about the incident.

The resident, who sustained injuries in the attack identified as Munawar, told a YouTuber that after having a lunch they were taking rest on their third floor when they heard sound coming from two flats of second floor.

He said after which the family got alert as they had known that the family had gone to their hometown and when he reached the floor to his dismay he saw two people inside the flats.

Realising that it might be a robbery incident, he said he locked the door from outside and started shouting. By that time the two robbers were able to open the doors and started running, he said, adding that it was then that he got hold of one and in the scuffle he was attacked with a screwdriver.

By that time his wife also rushed downstairs and was shocked to see him bleeding, said Khan. She shouted for help but nobody from the ground and first floor opened their doors and then she rushed her husband to a local hospital where he got treatment, said Khan.

The flat owner said two of their flats were burgled and Rs 20,000 cash kept in one flat is missing.
