Rizwan Qaiser, other Jamia faculty members test Covid positive
In the last 24 hours, Delhi has reported 25,000 Covid cases. Several faculty members of Jamia Millia Islamia have been reportedly tested Covid positive in the second wave.
Rizwan Qaiser, Junaid Harris and a few more faculty members have tested Covid positive, according to university Proctor Waseem Khan.
A source said that History Professor Qaiser, his wife and children have tested Covid positive. The exact number of faculty members who have tested positive couldn’t be ascertained from university official.
Amid rise in coronavirus cases, Jamia has deferred PhD entrance exams.
“The Competent Authority, keeping in view of Covid-19 surge in Delhi and weekend Curfew imposed by Government of NCT of Delhi, has postponed the Ph.D. Entrance Tests which were earlier announced to be held on 20, 22, 24 and 26 of April 2021 till further orders,” it said.
On Wednesday, the university had postponed exams for Classes 10 and 12 exams at Jamia schools scheduled to be held from April 15 following the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision on Wednesday to cancel Class 10 exams and postpone Class 12 exams.
