Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Ravi visits Okhla, Babban Khan big announcement for Dangal winner
Freestyle wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya, who won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 57 kg category, visited Okhla today to be part of Dangal, wrestling competition, organised by Manish Choudhary and Jai Prakash at Netaji Subhash Sports Complex Jasola.
The two-day wrestling competition starting from November 7 is to end on November 8 with timing from 9 am to 5 pm. The final is to be played tomorrow, according to Manish, who has been organising the wrestling competition for the last eight years.
His father Jai Prakash represented India in Olympics and is well-known wrestler in Delhi.
Okhla-based industrialist Babban Khan, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Vice President, said he has announced Rs 51,000 cash reward to the winner of the tournament. On Sunday, he distributed pressure cooker manufactured from his company to semi-finalists.
It is expected that more Olympic wrestlers will be visiting Dangal on Monday to be part of the final event. Several Delhi-based BJP leaders were also seen on the ground encouraging young wrestlers.
Many women wrestlers also participated in the competition. Manish said the purpose is to hunt talent so that they can play for India and brings laurels for the country.
