Live: Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Delhi, Rahul gets warm welcome at Okhla Mod
The much-talked about Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi entered Delhi on Saturday morning with large number of party workers, including residents of Okhla, Shaheen Bagh, Abul Fazal Enclave and Jamia alumni, turning up at Okhla Mod to give Congress leader a rapturous welcome.
Rahul , while speaking to Delhiites, at Badarpur said: “Some people are spreading hatred but common man of the country is now talking about love. In every state, lakhs have joined the yatra. I’ve said to the people of RSS-BJP that we’re here to open the shop of love in your ‘bazar’ of hatred.” (sic)
The preparations for making the Yatra a success had started days ago under the leadership of Delhi unit chief Anil Chaudhary, who on Saturday morning, welcomed Rahul and the Yatris at the Delhi border in Badarpur. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also joined Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Later at Ashram, photos surfaced of Sonia Gandhi also joining the Yatra at Ashram.
Hours ago, the Yatra passed away from Okhla Mod, said Congress leader Shibli Manzoor. He said Rahul passed by with residents and Congress workers waving at him. There was huge crowd and the response was overwhelming, said Manzoor.
Chairman Social Media Department Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Mohd Hidayatullah Gentle told the OT that the hard work put in by workers under the leadership of Chaudhary paid as the Yatra was a huge hit.
Two winning Congress Councillors from Zakir Nagar wards: Ariba Khan and Nazia Danish were also at Okhla Mod to welcome Rahul with their supporters. A camp was held by Jamia alumni highlighting work done by the founders of the university.
Syyed Fouzul Azeem, who was looking after the Ashram preparation, said the whole Congress team did a splendid job in getting such a good response. Parvez Alam Khan was looking after a stall at Apollo Hospital.
Former-Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan also addressed the crowd.
The Yatra will end at Red Fort around 4.30 pm.
