Property tax payment date extended, get 15% off before July 31: Mayor
The last date of payment of 2020-21 property tax has been extended from June 30, to July 31, according to SDMC Mayor Anamika.
She said the decision has been taken to facilitate the taxpayers to file the current years’ tax with 15 per cent rebate if they missed the deadline of June 30 due to any unavailable reason.
She exhorted tax payers to make payment of their due property tax before the new last date i.e. July 31 in order to avail 15 per cent rebate.
She said this year, in order to facilitate the general public, the SDMC has decided to provide both online and manual facility for filing of property tax returns and has developed a new website for filing online property tax returns and making payment of property tax aiming to make the system more citizen friendly and effective which will be very useful in long run.
The Mayor also said in addition to this, the SDMC is trying to provide more relief to its citizens and are organising special property tax camps in all colonies in association with the RWAs and local councillors.
Property tax department is making all the efforts to tab the maximum tax payers. All the zonal offices are also opened on all working days and ready to assist the people to file their property tax. The last date for making payment of property tax both online and offline with 15 per cent timely rebate will be July 31.
So far SDMC organised a total 145 camps where 16480 taxpayers filed their return and deposited tax. The amount of property tax collected in these camps i.e. about Rs 30 crore.
