Global Media Education Council (GMEC) felicitates JMI’s Prof. FB Khan for his stellar contribution to the field of Media and Communication
Professor Farhat Basir Khan, Founding Professor and Incharge, Department of Design and Innovation, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was felicitated for his stellar contribution to the field of Media and Communication by the Global Media Education Council (GMEC) during the Global Communication Education Conclave (GCEC) organized by the council. The event was a part of the GCEC, which is a unique 75-day global conclave involving global academicians and experts and celebrated scholarly contributions from varied perspectives.
After receiving the award, Professor Farhat Basir Khan said, “Media is the cornerstone of democracy. As academicians we don’t teach our students who are now formidable editors, journalists, filmmakers, chief information officers how to access information but meaning making. They speak truth to power, become the eyes and ears of our readers and bring in plurality and diversity of voices, balancing perspective. In many ways we are the conscious keepers of society acting as a mirror. I am truly honored and humbled to receive this recognition. Success stories of my students have been my true reward and they are in thousands. Watching them achieve great things has brought me great joy and satisfaction. However, this recognition makes me feel special and it is always good to know that your work is seen and appreciated. And as this award comes from a scholarly community in the 75th year of India’s Independence celebrating true freedom, makes it more special to me”.
Prof. Khan has over three and half decades of leadership experience in academic teaching, research, industry practice and administration. He continues to play a key role in setting up media departments, institutions & universities across the country.
