“To facilitate women, the SDMC has been planning to open more Pink Toilets in key markets and crowded areas. The SDMC has been running these toilets with the support of PVR Nest. These toilets are located mainly in Central Market in Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony in Lajpat Nagar, Aurobindo Market, Shahpur Jat, RK Puram, Priya Complex, Vasant Vihar, PVR Anupam Saket & PVR Vikaspuri Complex. These toilets are equipped with modern facilities like sanitary napkin vending machines, napkin incinerator machines, feeding & changing rooms, soap dispensers, hair dryers besides proper ventilation, 24X7 water supply, low altitude toilet seats for children and differently-abled, dustbins, etc. The SDMC has deployed women Safai Sainiks for maintaining these toilets,” it said.

“Pink Toilets’ are one such example which envisions the safety of women and girl children. Leading from the front, SDMC inaugurated the first Pink Toilet on October 11, 2017 in Vikaspuri on the occasion of the International Day for the Girl Child. In spite of the challenges posed by the pace of urbanization and huge congestion in prominent public places, SDMC is effectively maintaining public toilets for brighter outcomes. These Pink Toilets are opened from morning 08 am to evening 8 pm every day and there is no user charge at all,” it said.
