The paper “Multiscale Structural and Crystallographic Characterisation of Pigeon Eggshells and Membranes as an Evolutionary Model for Biomimetic Applications” published on October 20, 2025, presents a novel and evolutionary model explaining how the nanostructure and crystallinity of avian eggshells are finely tuned by ecological adaptation.

Another paper “Terahertz Time Domain Spectroscopy Technique Used for Evaluation of Thickness and Optical Cum Dielectric Properties of Table and Fertile Eggshells,” published on October 9, 2025, was conducted in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad.

The research was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Aleem Basha, Dean, School of Sciences, MANUU, and co-supervision of Dr. Kaleem Jaleeli, Nizam College (Osmania University), with the support of Prof. Rafeeq Abu Turab, Head, Department of Physics, MANUU.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, congratulated Juveria Iram on this outstanding achievement, appreciating her contribution to interdisciplinary and sustainable scientific research. The faculty and research scholars of the School of Sciences also extended congratulations to Juveria Iram,.

These publications mark a major step in MANUU’s contribution to frontier scientific research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2 & 12), reinforcing the university’s commitment to innovation and rural sustainability, said the university.

Juveria Iram has made the university and her family proud.

In another development, in a significant step towards strengthening inclusive and accessible education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. The collaboration aims to extend quality education to marginalized communities, promote skill-based learning, and increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) across the country, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

On the occasion, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU inaugurated the official YouTube channel of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), a platform dedicated to educational content primarily in Urdu. While addressing, Prof. Ainul Hasan emphasized that Urdu is not a barrier to capacity building or career development, and with collaboration and mutual support between MANUU and NIOS, both institutions can achieve their shared goals.

He reiterated the university’s commitment to reaching the unreached and stated that this collaboration aligns with the current demands of the time. “We have been proactive in implementing NEP-2020 in our university, and we are making sincere efforts to uplift disabled students, who are showing remarkable participation, even in sports like cricket,” he added. Highlighting the fact that most MANUU students come from marginalized communities and are first-generation learners, he underlined that the continuation of education is a long process, and this MoU serves a noble cause aimed at improving society.

Prof. Akhilesh Mishra, Chairperson, NIOS, acknowledged the symbolic value of signing this MoU at a university named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India. Prof. Mishra stated that NIOS would continue to play a proactive role in mainstreaming the marginalized people of the society. “NIOS has a widespread network that reaches every corner of the country, and we are working to bring people from all walks of life into the educational mainstream. Age is no bar for admission at NIOS,” he said.

Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar expressed confidence that both institutions, with shared objectives, would achieve great results together. The partnership between MANUU and NIOS promises to open new avenues in the field of education, empowering learners from all segments of society, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey of learning and progress.

Prof. Mohammed Razaullah Khan, Director, CDOE welcomed the dignitaries and said that the day marks a historic moment where two national institutions unite for a noble cause. He described the partnership as a step towards synergy and societal empowerment through education across India, especially in boosting enrolment in higher education.

Col. Shakeel Ahmed, Secretary of NIOS and Dr. Vijay Kumar, Director of Student Support Services at NIOS, also spoke on the occasion.

The event also witnessed the participation of several key figures from both institutions.

Prof. Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director, CPDUMT delivered a vote of thanks. Dr. Shaikh Wasim of CDOE anchored the programme.
