Online workshop on urban sketching, focusing on Indian cities held
The Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a one-day online workshop on ‘Urban Sketching – focusing on Indian Cities’. It was conducted by the architect-planner Nitesh Dogne.
Nitesh Dogne is an Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture & Ekistics, JMI. He is a pen and ink sketch artist, architect and regional planner (SPA, New Delhi passed out) with experience in undertaking architectural projects and preparing an urban, regional, tribal, and rural development plan.
The aim of the workshop was to improve students’ understanding of urban design and analysis skills. The purpose was also to make them aware about details of urban spaces and quick analytical sketching techniques required for architecture and urban design studies.
Examples of different urban spaces and notable buildings along with analysis of Kovalam city of Kerala was also discussed In the workshop.
Over 100 students and faculty members of the Department of Architecture attended the workshop, said the university.
