Tanveer Chaudhary, who himself was not sure about the main spot from where the smoke was billowing a few minutes ago, told the OT over phone that it could be some place behind the Bioscience department of Jamia Millia Islamia.
The OT contacted a senior university official, who said as of now he was not in a position to confirm whether fire has broken at or around the building.
He said it could be somewhere in Noor Nagar. “Ajmal Bagh jhuggi is reported to be gutted, no problem in Biosciences building,” he wrote just now.
Another resident after watching the video said he saw fire brigade rushing towards Noor Nagar, a claim that the OT could not confirm.
Another resident called in to say that the fire broke out in Noor Nagar.
Official version is yet awaited.
A Noor Nagar resident told the OT over phone that the fire broke at 2:30 pm and started spreading. “Now fire in under control. Nobody is being allowed entry. And operation is on to rescue jhuggi residents,” he said.
