Is Jamia neglecting Noam Chomsky complex? This and other questions are being asked by Jamia Millia Islamia watchers who are upset with the administration for not fixing missing N of Noam Chomsky complex. It has been years since the N of Noam Chomsky complex went missing.
Avram Noam Chomsky is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, social critic, and political activist.
They said they had expected Jamia to fix the missing N during 101st Foundation Day of the university when the campus was decked up just two days ago.
The Noam Chomsky complex was also lit up but the N was not fixed.
The OT has been raising the issue for years.
A Jamia researcher, who didn’t want to be named, said it reflects poorly on the administration that for years they have failed to fix the missing N of the complex.
JTA post bearer Prof Majid Jameel said it is negligence and should be fixed soon.
Jamia Registrar Dr. Nazim Husain Al Jafria saiid he will look into the matter. When pointed out by the OT, the university said it will soon fix it.
In 2007, then Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh had inaugurated the Noam Chomsky complex on the campus.
”Jamia’s gradual growth from a small institution in the pre-independence India to a Central University offering integrated education from nursery to research in specialised areas is a story of dedication,” said Singh in his address at the university after the inauguration ceremony.
Soon after taking over the Human Resource Development Ministry in 2004, Singh had made a special grant of Rs 44.28 crore towards the construction of the building complex in 2004.
