Under VC Najma, Jamia reached great heights: Jamia teachers’ body on her getting Padma Shree
The three staff associations of Jamia Milia Islamia congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar for her selection for Padma Shree Award in recognition to her distinguished contribution in the field of literature and education. Jamia Teachers’ Association (JTA) in its message said during her stay in Jamia as its Vice Chancellor, Prof Akhtar led the varsity from the front.

“The university improved academic and research profile enormously and as a result secured A++ accreditation by NAAC of UGC, Government of India. Despite so many challenges including long grip of global pandemic, she ensured that teaching, examinations and admission process must go on without any lag,” it said.
She has also resolved long pending issues of teaching and sincerely working to resolve the left over ones. The association wished her all the very best for her future endeavours.
Jamia Administrative Staff Association (JASA) in its congratulatory message said that it is a matter of great pride for the entire Jamia fraternity that she has been awarded with one of the highest civilian awards Padma Shree.
The association said the university is proud to have a great leader like her who took the institution to such heights. “You are an enliven role model for Jamia community,” the association wrote in its letter.
Shafiqur Rehman Kidwai (SRK) Association also congratulated the Vice Chancellor for the achievement.
The Vice Chancellor said it is not an achievement for me only but for the whole university as every employee of the institution worked hard. “I thank my family, friends and colleagues who stood with me through the thick and thin,” she said.
