JMI Vice Chancellor conferred with ‘Ambassadors for Peace’ Award
Jamia Millia Islamia Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar has been conferred with ‘Ambassador For Peace’ Award by the Universal Peace Federation- India Chapter in recognition of her exceptional educational and institutional leadership. The award was given during the virtual celebration of National Youth Day on the occasion Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by the federation.
Apart from the award function, various national and international delegates delivered inspiring lectures about the life lessons from Swami Vivekananda during the programme which was attended by students of different schools, colleges and universities.
During her address Prof. Akhtar said the future of the country and the world depends upon the youth. They must always be empowered with freedom but along with a sense of responsibility and the universities including JMI are fulfilling the same objective, she said.
The Universal Peace Federation, a UN recognised organisation honours ‘Ambassadors for Peace’ to those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others, and who dedicates themselves to practices which promotes universal moral values, strong family life, interreligious cooperation, international harmony, renewal of the United Nations, a responsible public media, and establishment of culture of peace.
Transcending racial, national and religious barriers, the ‘Ambassadors for Peace’ contribute to the fulfillment of the hope of all ages, a unified world of peace wherein the spiritual and material dimensions of life are harmonized.
