MDC polls 2022 is in full swing and leaders across Delhi have hit the streets to win hearts and minds of voters. In Okhla too leaders are out to impress upon the voters. And as the campaign rages, the OT team has also started to gauge the mood of the voters by interacting with them directly. In its first part of the series of its Mann ki Baat of voters, the OT reporters approached several people to know their view point over the ongoing elections and who is their most preferred leader? Of many a few agreed to talk on camera.
It is too early to jump to the conclusion as campaigning is initial stages. The contest in Zakir Nagar ward, which has been reserved for women, is between sitting Councillor Shoaib Danish wife, Nazia Danish, AAP candidate Salma Ariz and AIMIM candidate Laddan’s wife Nazra Parveen Siddiqui.
Danish is a sitting Councillor and has ruled the area for the last three years whereas Ariz wife Salma is a new entrant from the AAP and Laddan, who was in AAP earlier, but quit the party to join AIMIM, to contest election is a known face as he too unsuccessfully contested MCD election earlier.
In most of the wards, the fight is between AAP and BJP with the Congress also in the race. It would be interesting to see whether AIMIM would be able to win any seats fighting in mostly Muslim dominated seats.
The MCD election for the 250 wards of the MCD is to be held on December 4, 2022. The last date to nominate was November 14.
