The Chief Guest, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Former Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, drew attention to the intellectual and institutional challenges in studying regional histories. In his Presidential Remarks, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, underscored the significance of regional histories in reinforcing India’s composite cultural heritage. He invoked history and historical works like “Hudoodul Alam Minal Mashriq Wal Maghrib” and “Abhigyan Shakuntalam” in emphasising the importance of the region as a site where identities are constructed and asserted.
