MCD Commissioner meets newly appointed Delhi L-G
MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti paid courtesy visit to newly appointed Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena and greeted him.
On the occasion, the Commissioner informed the L-G about the works related to unification of erstwhile three MCDs and also apprised him of steps being taken by the corporation to provide better and improved civic amenities to the citizens of Delhi.
Bharti said he looks forward for the L-G’s guidance and support so as to impart best civic amenities to the citizens of Delhi.
The MCD Commissioner informed the L-G that despite facing financial crisis, the corporation provided uninterrupted services during Covid-19 pandemic to the people living in its area.
He said in future also, the civic body will ensure smooth delivery of services.
The L-G is expected to take the oath of office at the Raj Niwas on May 26 at 11 am, officials said on Tuesday.
Saxena, 64, who earlier was chairperson of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), was named the new LG of Delhi on Monday days after Anil Baijal resigned from the post citing “personal reasons”. Before Baijal, Najeeb Jung was the L-G of Delhi.
Saxena had started his career as an assistant officer in Rajasthan with JK Group and was elevated as general manager in 1995 to look after a proposed port project in Gujarat. He was appointed as KVIC chairperson in 2015.
