Jamia Millia Islamia student Shaheen Abdulla has won the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) Award 2019 in the print and electronic media category with acclaimed journalists like Qurban Ali (former BBC journalist), author Humra Quraishi and Aditya Menon (The Quint).
Mahtab Alam (The Wire, Urdu) has also won the award.
Shaheen is studying Convergent Journalism at Jamia and also works with Maktoob as Creative Editor.
The DMC is headed by Zafarul Islam Khan who brings out The Milli Gazette.
While lauding the “young committed journalist,” the awarding committee praised Shaheen’s work as one of “substance and promise.”
