The moot problem dealt with the nuances of Constitutional Law and Data Privacy Law, with the main issue surrounding allegations of citizens’ data privacy breach leading to the apprehensions of electoral manipulation and mass surveillance.

Elated over the performance, Prof. Ghulam Yazdani, Dean, Faculty of Law Jamia said: “We are proud of our team for their performance at the 1st MANUU National Moot Court Competition 2025. Their success showcases their exceptional skills and dedication. I extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team and wish them continued success in their future mooting endeavours.”

In another event on the campus, Sardor Rustambaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India, visited Jamia Millia Islamia to explore avenues for academic collaboration and cultural exchange between the university and leading institutions in Uzbekistan. The visit marks a significant step in fostering international partnerships and enhancing educational cooperation between the two nations.

During his visit, the Uzbek ambassador engaged in discussions with the Vice-Chancellor of JMI, Professor Mazhar Asif, along with the Registrar and senior faculty members. The discussions focused on the development of collaborative programs, student and faculty exchange initiatives, joint research projects, joint publications and academic partnerships with Uzbek universities.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif expressed his enthusiasm for the potential collaborations, highlighting JMI’s commitment to global academic engagement. “Jamia Millia Islamia has always been at the forefront of fostering international ties that promote academic excellence and cultural understanding. We look forward to working closely with Uzbek institutions to create opportunities for students and scholars from both countries,” he said.

As part of the cultural exchange initiatives, both sides discussed organizing academic conferences, cultural events, and language programs to promote mutual understanding of Indian and Uzbek heritage. Special emphasis was laid on collaborations in fields such as social sciences, language studies, and emerging areas of research that align with the developmental goals of both nations.

The ambassador expressed his appreciation for JMI’s warm hospitality and underscored the importance of academic diplomacy in strengthening Indo-Uzbek relations. “Education is a bridge that connects nations. By collaborating with JMI, we hope to create academic opportunities that will benefit students and researchers from Uzbekistan and India alike,” he stated.

This visit is expected to pave the way for formal agreements between JMI and Uzbek universities with the proactive support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, setting the stage for a robust educational partnership.
