Ex-MLA Asif’s 14 days judicial custody ends today
The 14-day judicial custody of former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan, arrested again on January 4 for allegedly misbehaving with the police, ends today. In a statement issued to the media, the police had said: “On 04-01-23 at 2 pm, Police officials of Shaheen bagh were checking the CCTV cameras in Nai Basti area regarding an incident of MV Theft. Asif Mohammad Khan came on the spot and started misbehaving with the police staff. Accordingly, a case U/S 186,353,341,153 A IPC has been registered at PS Shaheen Bagh and accused Asif Mohd Khan was arrested. Thereafter, he has been sent to 14 days judicial custody by order of the court.”
It is not known whether Asif will walk out of jail today or not.
When contacted to know whether they will file application for bail today as his judicial custody ends today, lawyer Mohd Areeb Hasan, part of the lawyers’ team, said he will keep the portal posted about the development. It is not known whether in the last 14 days, Asif’s lawyer applied for bail or not. Detailed will be updated today with fresh version of Areeb.
Even during the MCD election, Asif was arrested for misbehaving with the local police. Then he walked out of the jail after his JC was completed with his bail application being rejected during that period.
