“People were not getting ambulances and we were moved by reading articles and watching videos on the social media about overcharging. It was after which we decided to launch free ambulance service. We converted an Eeco car into ambulance. Actually we took it on rent on Rs 25 thousand per month. Also, we have hired two drivers on Rs 15,000 each per month. This money was raised by our NGO Khedmat and we want to serve people,” said Arham Siddiqi.

He told the OT over phone that the ambulance is equipped will oxygen cylinder, oximeter and a mask and bed sheets.

“Though we are providing the service for free, if somebody wants to pay money to the driver then they are welcome,” said Siddiqi, said people can call on this number +919999967475.

Adil Farooqi is leading this campaign, said Faiz Ilahi, who is head of Khidmat NGO. Adil told the OT over phone from Gurugram that he was carrying a patient to a hospital. “Right now the service is free for all in Delhi but once the Covid centre starts in Noor Nagar we will be helping locals to reach the centre which is yet to start,” he said.

Asif Ashu is also team members of the NGO, said Siddiqi.

If you are also doing genuine work in helping Covid patients then please do share your story with us at iamlocal2020@gmail.com
